This moment, however, left a deep impression on me.

I couldn’t shake off the thought of a hammering cross.

This idea of a hammering cross persisted.

I decided to build a house consisting of nailed-together boards and an iron cross, a modest shelter. I impregnated the interior walls of the finished structure with a mixture I’ve so used often in my works, a honey-graphite compound.
